With the completion of the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq, the United States officially brought its combat mission in Iraq to an end yesterday. Yesterday marked seven years, five months after the United States invaded Iraq at the order of former U.S. President George W. Bush on March 20, 2003. Some 50,000 non-combat personnel will remain in Iraq until next year to train the
Iraqi military and police, but the Iraq War has moved into its final stage. Though it is too late, It is time to take a full account of the war and learn a lesson.
제국의 황혼과 이라크 침공의 결말
이라크 주둔 미군 전투병력의 철수가 완료됨에 따라 미국은 어제 이라크 전투 임무를 공식 종료했다. 조지 부시 전 대통령의 개전 명령으로 2003년 3월20일 이라크를 침공한 지 무려 7년5개월 만이다. 내년까지 이라크 군경을 교육·훈련할 5만명의 비전투요원이 남지만 이라크전은 사실상 종료단계로 들어갔다. 만시지탄이지만 전쟁의 전말을 냉정하게 분석해 교훈을 삼을 때다.
