It is now official: there will be additional negotiations on the South Korea-United States free trade agreement (KORUS FTA). During a briefing yesterday, Trade Minister Kim Jong-hoon said that the agreement would go through “working-level discussions,” with ratification to take place at some point during the first half of 2011. He rejected the word “renegotiations,” but modification of the agreement’s terms in one form or another has become inevitable.
퍼주기식 한-미 FTA 협상, 원점에서 재검토해야
한-미 자유무역협정(FTA) 추가협상이 공식화했다. 김종훈 통상교섭본부장은 어제 브리핑에서 ‘실무협의’를 거쳐 내년 상반기쯤 협정이 비준되도록 하겠다고 말했다. 재협상이란 말은 거부했지만 어떤 형식이든 협정 내용의 수정이 불가피한 상황이다.
