The Japanese Ministry of Education yesterday provisionally approved a social studies textbook for fifth and sixth grade elementary schools that designates Dokdo as Japanese territory. Of the five social studies textbooks that are currently issued, only three contain descriptions of Dokdo, but the result of this latest screening revealed that the other two textbooks now also include descriptions. Accordingly, Japanese elementary school students will learn from the outset of their education on territorial issues that Dokdo, Korean territory, is Japanese territory. This is not a desirable development for the future of the South Korea-Japan relationship.
일본 민주당 정부, 이게 과거를 직시하는 건가
일본 문부과학성이 어제 독도를 자국 영토로 표기한 초등학교 5·6학년 사회교과서를 검정에서 통과시켰다. 그동안 5종의 사회교과서 가운데 3종에만 독도 관련 기술이 있었으나 이번 검정 결과 나머지 2종에도 독도 관련 내용이 포함됐다. 일본의 모든 초등학생이 영토문제를 처음 배우는 단계에서부터 한국 영토인 독도를 일본 영토로 배우게 된 것이다. 한-일 관계의 미래를 어둡게 하는 짓이 아닐 수 없다.
