The debate surrounding newly-appointed Prime Minister Chung Un-chan’s ethics continues. At the heart of suspicions surround the allegation is that while he served as the president of Seoul National University, he received a yearly salary of close to 100 million Won from the Hana Institute of Finance (HIF) as a part-time advisor, but he hid that fact during the confirmation hearing. There had been a dispute during his confirmation hearing when it was revealed he had served as an advisor to Yes24, an Internet book selling company, without permission from the school, and now a similar incident has belatedly been made public.
정운찬 총리, 거짓말이 문제다
정운찬 신임 국무총리를 둘러싼 도덕성 논란이 총리 취임 뒤에도 이어지고 있다. 의혹의 핵심은 정 총리가 서울대 교수 시절 하나금융경영연구소의 비상근 고문을 맡아 1억원 가까운 연봉을 받았는데도 고문 겸직 사실을 숨긴 대목이다. 정 총리는 국회 인사청문회 과정에서 학교 쪽의 허락 없이 인터넷서적 쇼핑몰 고문을 맡은 사실이 드러나 말썽을 빚은 바 있는데 비슷한 사건이 뒤늦게 또 터진 셈이다.
