It is hard to understand the comments made by members of the ruling Grand National Party at yesterday’s meeting of the National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee convened to look into the police action in which six people died in Yongsan on Tuesday. The comments made no sense. Assemblyman Shin Ji-ho insisted that “you cannot exclude the possibility it was deliberate arson,” while Lee In-ki demanded to know why people are blaming the police. “They were all trying to die,” he said, comparing the deceased to suicide bombers.
용산 참사’를 철거민 ‘테러’로 모는 한나라당 의원들
여섯 사람이 숨진 용산 대참사의 진상 규명을 위해 그저께 열린 국회 행정안전위에서 한나라당 의원들이 행한 발언은 상식 이하였다. 신지호 의원은 화재의 원인과 관련해 “(농성자들의) 고의 방화도 배제할 수 없다”고 말했으며, 이인기 의원은 “어떻게 경찰에 책임을 묻냐. 다 죽자고 하는데”라며 사망자들을 자폭범으로 비유하기도 했다.
