The foreign currency and stock markets are quieting down after a day of anxiety on September 2, which was the day after they had been shaken all over the place the previous day. The Lee Myung-bak administration insists there is no basis for what is being called a “September crisis” and says it will stay on top of fluctuations in the exchange rate. However, people are still nervous for the fact the situation is similar to the one immediately before the foreign currency crisis of 1997.
금융불안, 정부의 신뢰회복으로 해소해야
엊그제 심하게 흔들렸던 외환시장과 주식시장이 어제는 불안한 가운데 다소 진정되는 모습을 보였다. 정부는 이른바 ‘9월 위기설’은 근거가 없으며 환율 급변동에 적극 대처하겠다고 밝혔다. 그러나 시장에서는 분위기로만 보면 마치 1997년 외환위기 직전 상황과 비슷하다며 여전히 불안감이 가시지 않은 상태다.
