The government has issued a “basic plan” for national energy, one that outlines energy policy and its implementation until 2030. By that year nuclear power will account for 41 percent of Korean electricity, over the current 26 percent, while new and renewable energy will account for 11 percent of energy sources. The plan is mainly about seizing the opportunity created by the trend towards higher oil prices to build a whole lot of new nuclear power plants, and so we find the plan hard to agree to.

오는 2030년까지의 에너지 정책과 집행의 뼈대인 국가에너지 기본계획안이 나왔다. 원자력 발전시설 비중을 현재 26%에서 41%로 늘리고, 신재생 에너지 보급률을 11%로 높이겠다는 내용 등이 담겼다. 최근의 고유가 흐름을 틈 타 원자력발전소를 대거 신설하겠다는 것이 주된 내용이어서 정부의 기본계획안에 동의하기 어렵다.
