An observation report shows that sea levels along the Jeju coast rose 21.9 centimeters over the past 43 years under the influence of the global warming phenomenon. According to the National Oceanographic Research Institute, sea levels rose 21.9 centimeters over the past 43 years in Jeju, and 13.3 centimeters for the last 22 years in Seogwipo, respectively up by 0.5 and 0.6 centimeters every year. A sense of crisis is being amplified by the environmental experts' warning that many regions of the Korean Peninsula including Jeju will never be safe from damages from submersion if this trend continues.
