At a Cabinet meeting on Jan 23, the government approved a revised bill on the Juvenile Sex Protection Law which mainly calls for the abolishment of a system requiring a formal complaint from the victim for prosecution. As a result, from now on, a third party also can request sex offenders of children be punished. According to the new bill, the detailed information of sexual criminals including the molesters' pictures and addresses, which currently available only to the victims, parents and heads of child and juvenile education institutes, will be expanded to local residents.
아동ㆍ청소년 대상 성범죄 '친고제 폐지'
아동.청소년 대상 성범죄에 대한 친고제가 폐지돼 앞으로는 제3자도 관련 성범죄자에 대해 처벌을 요구할 수 있게 된다. 정부는 23일 국무회의에서 이 같은 내용의 청소년 성보호법 개정안을 의결했다. 개정안은 이와 함께 성 범죄자에 대한 신상정보 열람의 범위도 대폭 확대했다. 피해자, 보호자, 청소년 교육기관의 장에 국한한 것을 가해자의 거주 지역 주민들에게까지 확대했다.
