Petitions against the Korea-U.S. FTA signed by over 100,000 people are submitted to Cheongwadae, the Ministry of foreign Affair and Trade, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on July 6-7. Kang Ji-young, president of special committee for mandarine orange, announced that the committee will submit petitions and strongly suggest that the government should exclude citrus varieties such as orange from the list of import items in order to protect Jeju citizens' right to live and local agriculture. He added that the committee is ready to put whatever efforts and activities on securing the regions' right to live until Jeju's farmhouses are filled with hopes and dreams.
한미FTA협상저지 10만인 서명서 정부 제출
한미FTA협상저지를 위한 10만인 서명서가 오는 6-7일 이틀간 청와대, 외교통상부, 농림부 등 정부에 제출된다. 강지용 위원장은 “제주도의 생존권과 지역농업 보호차원에서 한미FTA협상에서 오렌지 등 감귤류가 반드시 제외품목으로 관철되기를 10만인 서명서 제출과 함께 건의할 것”이라며 “앞으로 감귤농가와 제주인에게 꿈과 희망을 줄 수 있을 때까지 제주도의 생존권 확보차원에서 어떠한 행동과 노력도 불사할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
