The Special Bill for the establishment of Jeju self-government and a free international city passed by the legislature on February 14 is about to be promulgated. The government held a state council meeting in the morning of the day under the President Roh Moo-hyun and voted for one legislative bill, seven bills proposed by the president and four general bills. The Bill that was got through Cabinet council only five days after gaining approval of the National Assembly at a plenary session will come before the president for signing and go into effect.
특별 자치도법 국무회의 의결
제주도 특별자치도 설치 및 국제자유도시 조성을 위한 특별법이 14일 국무회의 의결을 마쳐 법률안 공포가 초읽기에 들어갔다. 정부는 이날 오전 노무현 대통령 주제로 국무회의를 열어 제주특별자치도특별법 공포안 등 법률안 1건, 대통령안 7건, 일반안건 4건 등을 심의 의결했다. 지난 9일 국회 본회의에서 법률안이 통과된 뒤 5일만에 국무회의 의결을 완료함에 따라 특별법은 앞으로 대통령의 결재과정을 거친 뒤 공포돼 법으로써 효력을 내게 된다.
