Jeju branch of the Korean Agricultural Manager Association Inc. stated yesterday that it could not repress its disappointment and worry about a rough-and-ready settlement between South Korea and the U.S. regarding recent talks to lift U.S. beef ban.
Also Saying this restarting U.S. beef would give a fatal blow to the whole agricultural industry including the Korean beef industry, it stressed that the Korean government should do its best to make policy for securing the fundamental right to live of stock farming households which have already been stricken with the sharp downturn in Korean beef prices.
졸속 쇠고기협상 실망
사단법인 한국농업경영인 제주 연합회는 최근 한-미 정부 간 미국산 쇠고기 수입재개 협상과 관련, 졸속적인 한-미 쇠고기 협상 타결에 대해 실망과 우려를 금할 수 없다고 16일 밝혔다.
한농연 제주도연합회는 이날 성명서를 통해 양국 간 외교통상 현안 해결에만 급급한 채 수입재개 방침은 한우산업을 포함한 전체 농업에 치명적인 타격을 주게 될 것이라며 지금이라도 정부는 한우 값 폭락으로 고통 받고 있는 한우농가와 축산농민의 근본적인 생존권 확보를 위한 정책 수립에 최선을 다하라고 강조했다. <본지 1월 17일 기사>
