Jeju to feel the impact of Nabi
Jeju Province is in the path of typhoon Nabi (the 14th typhoon to date) heading northward and is expected to experience the worst effects of the typhoon in the afternoon of September 6th .
The Meteorological Administration said that typhoon Nabi will not strike South Korea directly, but the weather agency is anxious that strong winds are likely to cause damage due to the large scale of the typhoon.
Jeju Regional Meteorological Office (JRMO) issued a typhoon warning to Jeju Province at 2:30 pm on September 5th. Ahead of the typhoon warning, a storm alert was issued for the open sea of the southern part of Jeju at 9 am that morning.
An official at JRMO said that the typhoon is expected to make its way 332 kilometers southeast of Busan at 3 pm on the 6th and be about 282 kilometers eastern part of Busan at 3 am. It is likely to then slip away toward the East Sea. JRMO anticipates that the biggest impact on the Jeju region will likely be for about 3 hours on the 6th, from 6 pm to 9 pm, when the typhoon is nearest to Jeju.
'나비' 제주 오늘 오후 6시~9시 고비
북상하고 있는 제14호 태풍 ‘나비’의 직접적인 영향을 받고 있는 제주지방은 6일 오후 최대 고비가 될 전망이다.
기상청은 5일 ‘나비’가 우리 나라에 직접 상륙하지는 않겠지만 대형급인 만큼 바람으로 인한 피해가 우려된다고 밝혔다.
제주지방기상청은 5일 오후 2시 30분을 기해 제주도에 태풍주의보를 발효했다.앞서 이날 오전 9시에는 제주도 남쪽 먼바다에 태풍경보가 내려졌다.
제주기상청 관계자는 “태풍이 6일 오후 3시 부산 남동쪽 332km해상까지 진출하고 7일 새벽 3시에는 부산 동쪽 282km에 위치하면서 동해로 빠져나갈 것으로 예상된다”며 “이에 따라 제주지방은 태풍이 가장 근접하는 6일 오후 6시부터 9시까지 최대 고비가 될 것”이라고 내다봤다.
