The Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM) in Jeju said on the 21st that the Rainbow Warrior would enter Jeju port on the 25th during its stay in Korea. The Rainbow warrior has been visiting Korea for a month starting the 18th in order to raise public awareness about anti-whaling. Its visit is ahead of the 57th annual meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) scheduled to be held in Ulsan from May 27th.
While docked in Jeju, Greenpeace will open the interior of the Rainbow Warrior to the public and plan to hold an informal talk on the issue of whale populations and whale protection in Jeju.
Greenpeace will also conduct whale monitoring along the Jeju coast.
The Rainbow Warrior means ‘warriors sliding along a rainbow protect the environment’.

국제적인 자연보호단체인 그린피스의 ‘레인보 워리어(Rainbow Warrior)’호가 오는 25일 제주에 온다.
제주환경운동연합은 5월 27일부터 울산에서 열리는 제57회 국제포경위원회(IWC) 연례총회를 앞두고 포경 반대여론을 확산시키기 위해 레인보 워리어호가 지난 18일부터 한 달 동안 한국 방문을 시작한 가운데 오는 25일 제주항에 입항할 예정이라고 21일 밝혔다.
그린피스는 이번 제주 방문을 통해 레인보 워리어호 내부를 언론에 공개하는 한편 제주지역 고래출현 현황과 고래보호를 위한 간담회를 개최할 계획이라고 환경운동연합은 말했다. 또 그린피스는 제주연안에서 이날 고래 모리터링도 실시할 계획인다.
