In Mongolia, sex tourism by S. Korean males leads to anti-Korean sentiment

Mongolians accused South Korean tourists of spawning a culture of buying sex in their country. In 2002, a South Korean opened the first karaoke bar in Mongolia’s capital city of Ulan Bator and most karaoke bars in Mongolia are owned by South Koreans. The number of karaoke bars in Mongolia has increased to include some 50 bars.

“한국인 노골적 성매매” 몽골서 커지는 반한 감정

  현지인들은 몽골의 성매매 문화를 조성한 이들은 바로 한국인들이라고 말했다. 울란바토르에 2002년 첫 가라오케를 개설한 이도 한국인이었고, 많은 가라오케의 주인도 한국인이다. 2007년엔 50여개까지 늘어났다.
