Firm Drive to Open Medical Treatment

After the bill of the Special Act of Jeju Autonomy by the Secretary of State Office was made public, Jeju residents’ concern for securing financing of the local autonomy has deepened. Amid growing concern, Government Administration and Home Affairs Minister and President’s Special Advisor, Kim Doo-kwan said that he is mapping out special support programs.  This is drawing interest into whether the programs will ever be put into practice. 
The Minister willingly had an informal press gathering at the Jeju KAL Hotel at 8 o’clock on the 31st of October.  He delivered President Roh Moo Hyun’s original plan which would give autonomous rights in all sectors except for diplomacy, national defense, and jurisdiction.  He also stated that Chungwadae intends to consistently give financial support until the Jeju autonomy project is completed.

국무총리실의 제주특별자치도 특별법(안)이 발표된 이후 ‘자치재정 확보’에 대한 도민사회의 우려가 깊어지는 가운데 전 행정자치부 장관인 김 두관 대통령특별보좌관이 ‘특별지원대책’을 구상중이라고 밝혀 실현여부에 관심이 모아지고 있다.
31일 오전 8시 제주 칼호텔에서 기자간담회를 자청한 김 특보는 “외교겚뭐?사법을 제외한 전 분야에 자치권을 주려 했다”고 노무현 대통령의 당초 구상을 전달한 후 “제주특별자치도를 추진하면서 단발성 지원이나 알아서 하라는 차원에 그치지 않고 지속적으로 사업이 마무리될 때까지 재정지원을 아끼지 않겠다는 것이 청와대의 의중”이라고 소개했다.
